Inactive - Contacts Who Have Left a Company (In Between Jobs)

If the contact is an Owner or User on an account, special instructions are found here: Updating Inactive Clients


For contacts who are not clients: 

1) Create a note: 'First Name' was formerly 'Job Title' with 'Company Name'. This will provide a historical footprint for future merges. Click to pin the Note. 

2) In the Company Name property type Inactive.

3) Hover over the associated company in the right panel and click the X to remove the association, so the contact is removed from the company page.

4) Click on Actions and select Opt-out of Email. This way we do not try and send emails that will bounce and hurt our send reputation.
